How can I get the legs of a dancer?

Ballroom, jazz, and contemporary dancers have the best legs: they%26#039;re toned and sculpted without being too muscular. This is what I%26#039;m trying to achieve.

What type of exercise routines do these kinds of dancers follow?

I can%26#039;t dance, but it%26#039;d be great if I could mimick some of their key workout moves, so I can shape my legs nicely.

Do backward kicks. Stand next to a chair with your left hand resting on it. With your right arm over your head, lift your right leg straight forward as high as you can while keeping your back straight. Circle your leg around until it is behind you without lowering it. Return your foot to the ground, and repeat several times on each side.

Try scissor legs. Lie on the floor on your right side, with your right arm under your head and your left hand firmly on the floor near your chest. List your left leg until it is abut two feet off the floor. The lift your right leg until it is one foot off the floor. Lower your right foot to the floor, and then your left. Repeat on each side several times.

Practice plies. Stand next to a chair with one hand on it for support. Put your heels together, with your toes pointed out. Keeping your back straight, bend the knees and lift the heels being sure to tighten the butt and keep the back straight. Repeat several times.

Move onto a side bend. Begin in the same position as a plie. Bend the knees and lower into a plie, keeping the heels grounded this time. Reach one hand over your head and bend to one side, straightening your back when rising from the plie. Repeat on each side.

Enjoy! :)
Reply:bike riding is great for your legs. not the bike at the gym a real one
Reply:I%26#039;m a dancer, and a lot of the things that we do to tone our legs is we do A LOT of plies, kicks with a pointed toe, leg lifts, leaps, and anything that involves staying on your toes. Pointe, is usually what tones my legs the most, and my legs are almost pure muscle, however, for an unexpierienced dance, simple exercises should do the trick.
